How to Connect Macard Extender to Linksys Router?
There is an easy and simple setup procedure that you can follow to connect Macard extender to Linksys router.
At first, you should check all the Linksys router settings. Then, begin the Macard WiFi extender setup.
Check Linksys WiFi Router Settings
- First you should be on the WiFi or plugged in with an Ethernet cable on router network. Doesn’t matter which, but you’re not getting into the router if you’re on some other network.
- Now, open a browser. Doesn’t matter if it’s Chrome, Edge, Firefox, whatever. Type this straight into the address bar: 192.168.1.1
- Once you punch in the right IP, you’ll get a login screen. If you’ve never changed it, the default is usually:
- Username: (leave blank)
- Password: admin
- Now, as you’ve entered. The main things you might check:
- Wireless Settings: This is where you see your SSID (WiFi name) and password. You can also change the channel if you’re getting interference.
- Security: Make sure it’s on WPA2 or WPA3. If you see WEP, that’s basically leaving your door unlocked.
- Device List: Shows who’s connected. Handy if your neighbor “borrows” WiFi.
- Administration: Where you can update firmware or change the router’s admin password (you should).
How to Connect Macard Extender to Linksys Router?
WPS Connection
- Plug the extender in. Doesn’t matter where at first. Just stick it in an outlet near your router so you don’t have to run back and forth like a lunatic.
- Find the WPS button on your Linksys router. Every router has one somewhere usually on the back. It’ll either say “WPS” or just have that little two-arrow/lock-looking symbol.
- Hit WPS on the router. Hold it for a couple seconds until you see the WPS light blink.
- Now hit WPS on the Macard extender. press and hold the button until the WPS light on the extender starts blinking. This is the part where you stare at the lights and hope they sync.
- Wait. Give it 30–60 seconds. If all goes well, the extender’s light should go solid or change color (depends on the model, some turn green, some just stop blinking). That means it’s paired.
- Move the extender. Once it’s connected, unplug it and move it somewhere halfway between your router and the dead zone you’re trying to fix.
- Test it. On your phone/laptop, check WiFi networks. You’ll usually see your normal WiFi name with “_EXT” or “-5GEXT” slapped on the end. Connect to that with the same WiFi password as your main router.
That’s it. If it doesn’t connect the first time, no panic. Just hold down the reset button on the extender for like 10 seconds and start over.
Web Interface
- Connect to the extender’s WiFi. On your laptop/phone, look for something like Macard_EXT in the WiFi list. Connect to that.
- Go into the web interface. Open a browser and type in 192.168.10.1. That’s the extender’s control panel. If it asks for a login, the default is usually admin / admin (or it just drops you right into setup).
- Scan for your Linksys network. The extender should show a list of nearby WiFi networks. Find your Linksys router SSID. Click it. Enter your Linksys WiFi password (yes, the same one you normally use).
- Name the extended network. It’ll usually suggest something like YourWiFi_EXT. You can leave it or rename it, doesn’t matter. Just remember what you called it.
- Save and reboot. After you hit apply/save, the extender will reboot. This part feels like forever. Wait until the extender’s light goes solid (usually green or blue depending on the model).
- Reconnect. Now hop back to device’s WiFi list. You should see the extended network you just set up. Connect to that.
- Run a quick speed test or just load a site to make sure it’s actually pulling internet through your Linksys.

Troubleshooting Tips: Macard WiFi Extender Setup
If it keeps dropping signal
- Reset and redo the setup (seriously, takes 2 minutes once you know the steps).
- Check your router channel — extenders hate auto-switching channels.
- Update the firmware if you can find it on Macard’s site (not always obvious).
Don’t use your phone for setup
The instructions tell you it’s fine, but half the time the extender’s temporary WiFi network doesn’t even show up on mobile. Hop on a laptop. Connect to the “Macard_XXXX” network that pops up after reset. If you don’t see it, you didn’t reset it right.
Choose Correct Network Frequency
When picking your home WiFi network in the setup, make sure you’re connecting to the 2.4GHz band, not 5GHz. This extender is super picky. If you try 5GHz, it’ll just hang forever and never extend properly.
